“On Trend 5”: What You Need To Get, And Why…

Vitamin D crazy!

Have you got your vitamin D yet?  This amazing fat-soluble nutrient has been taking the nation by storm since Public Health England announced in March that everyone should be supplementing with 10micrograms.

Well-known for helping to maintain healthy joints and muscles, this vitamin, which can be stored in the body, can be mobilised to keep all kinds of body systems healthy. And new research is showing just how pivotal to health this amazing nutrient is.

Take a look at our piece on vitamin D over in the HealthyDoes Vitamins and Minerals.

Vitamin C is popular as people seek to maintain healthy, robust immune function. Vitamin C comes in all kinds of strengths and product forms. Products with 80mg Vitamin C provide the basic level of this nutrient for the prevention of deficiency, and other multi-nutrient formulations might include more. Single supplements of this nutrient are most often found in 500mg and

1000mg strengths, usually in tablets and capsules.

Look out for more unusual forms of vitamin C supplements, such as liquids, effervescent tablets and gummies, which are all useful for people wanting something different to tablets and capsules.

Turmeric: This vivid yellow plant, chosen by many to help for its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory components, has been a firm favourite of people visiting health stores. Used as a space, in hot milky drinks with honey, or in supplements, turmeric is often chosen by those wanting to maintain healthy joints, gut and immune function. This funky gingerish plant has been well researched, and it’s main active constituent, curcumin, can also be found in supplements. Ask in-store if you want any more information about turmeric or curcumin.

Omega 3: Omega 3 fatty acids, EPA and DHA have been used for decades in the UK to help maintain the health of the heart, joints and skin. There are many different variations that you can find in store; fish oil (made from the more fleshy parts of fish), cod liver oil (which is naturally rich in vitamins A and D), and seed oils. Walnuts are also provide great levels of omega 3 oils in the diet when eaten on a regular basis.
